Totally messed up postgresql installation -


i trying use package required connecting postgresql import data when realized there versions conflicting preventing working properly. have been trying entire evening wipe traces of postgresql off of system can clean install , proving lot more difficult imagined. seems nothing can stop commands pg_config --version working, indicating still somehow installed on system.

now after trying uninstall every package related , re-installing, left server cannot connect to. there command can run obliterate postgresql system , let me fresh re-install? have messed badly , need start over.

i running ubuntu 16.04

as of right have removed every package can think of , deleted every directory can possibly find related postgresql , yet still haunting system, because running pg_config still returns information.

and yes have seen these links , have followed steps , yet still have traces of postgresql on system:
